Twist Interior Design – FALL TOP 10 LIST

♣ DRESS UP YOUR ROOM FOR FALL Changing up your accessories for Fall is a great way to give your space a new spirit. Try changing out summery accents for bigger drama, higher contrast items. New accent pillows can go a long way to accomplish this, as can a new chenille or cashmere throw for those brisk Fall days when it’s nap time.

♣ BE AGLOW WITH CANDLELIGHT Add instant ambiance with large column candles (lots of them). They add great form to a tabletop or mantel, and dazzle when they’re lit en masse.

♣ REFRESH YOUR ENTRY Entering your home – for yourself or your guests – sets the tone for your time there. Most of us are accustomed to making sure the door through which guests enter looks great with a striking floral display – but what about where we come & go most of the time? Be sure not to forget to give yourself and your family wonderful fall plants or a door wreath where you enter.

♣ HEAVY METAL Emphasize the metal finishes in your space. The contrast of metal with wood, stone, or fabric is rugged and warm. Clean up your fireplace tools, andirons, & log grate so they’re gleaming and ready for another year of raging evening fires. Polish up your towering silver candlesticks so they really make a statement on your Dining Room table or fireplace mantel.

♣ TIME AT THE TABLE Refresh centerpieces to make meal time special. Go hunting for acorns and pinecones to fill a painted ceramic or pretty cut glass bowl – the contrasting textures are delightful, especially when you add bright red apples to the mix. Thick column candles never disappoint: Try doing similar colors in a thick cluster. If you’re adventuresome, trying mixing heights, adding thinner sizes, or scattering pretty stones around the perimeter of the grouping.

♣ TAKE A POWDER Find a gorgeous new soap, room spray scent, and guest towels for the Powder Room, and make sure you’re fine with the family enjoying them, too!

♣ AT YOUR SERVICE Adding rich, colorful glassware , replacing your old everyday flatware, or adding a contrast bowl or salad plate to your tableware can be ideal ways to update your family meal time. And being ready for the holidays early with the right serving pieces takes the stress out those events.

♣ MANY THANKS All the running around during the fall and winter season for team, office, and holiday events can be stressful. Stock up early on your hostess gifts – fancy candied popcorn, coasters, handsome scented soaps or candles, pretty note pads or fun paper party napkins are tasteful ways to say thanks.

♣ GOING TO THE DOGS Let your pet look just as good as the rest of the family! A fun design addition to the Family Room can be a dog or cat bed that blends with your interior design. Specialty shops have options to consider, or you can have one made at an upholstery workroom for a reasonable price. Simple, and nice.

♣ THE NOSE HAVE IT Home fragrance is about as touchy as politics. Some like it, some despise it. If you choose it, seasonal fragrance can be nice for limited periods of time. A safe bet is to avoid anything too floral or heavy. Light citrus or handsome fragrances tend to be more suitable. But in any case, subtle is the name of the game.
